The LinkedIn Lady with Carol McManus is a live, one-hour program broadcast on the Internet. It's entertaining, informative, current, and fun!

Hosted by the talented and resourceful Carol McManus, America's LinkedIn Lady and the Founder and CEO of Ywait4success (pronounced ‘why wait for success'), a highly successful coaching, consulting and training organization.

Carol is a self-described recovering corporate executive who left that world in 2007 to start her own business. She grew it quickly with a very limited marketing budget but through the creative and diligent use of social media. Today, she is one of the most sought-after speakers and consultants for businesses and entrepreneurs who aspire to grow their business by using this digital medium as a way to stay in touch with and attract new clients.

Carol's approach to social media is grounded in her business experience. She works with clients to determine their business goals, their marketing message, and their ideal target audience. Then and only then, does she recommend the guide in the development, implementation and management of their social media plan to support their business goals.

During the shows, Carol will be interviewing other experts in the field of social networking and social media as well as business owners and leaders who are, today, using it themselves to grow their personal brand and grow their bottom line.

She is the creator of the LinkedIn System for Success, a home study course for anyone wanting to improve his or her online biography using LinkedIn. "This is the professional social networking site and a must-do for your personal presence online if you want to be taken seriously by potential employees, employers, consultants, clients, vendors, partners, investors, and more."

While speaking and coaching to audiences all over the country on the do's and don'ts of social networking, Carol continues to grow Ywait4success. Her executive coaching and consulting business focuses on businesses primarily in the service sector whose needs include strategic planning, leadership development, financial metrics for managing higher productivity, marketing, recruiting, and sales training. She and her team of experts create customized options for business owners and legacy leaders to grow profitably and develop the talents of their entire organization.

Carol's background in the real estate industry covered more than three decades. The majority of that time was spent in brokerage management, field operations, sales and management training, and ultimately as Senior Vice President of Real Estate Operations for Coldwell Banker Real Estate Corporation, wholly owned subsidiary of Realogy (parent company to Century-21, ERA, Sotheby's International, Better Homes & Gardens Real Estate, Cartus Relocation, TRG, and NRT). Her transfers took her from Washington, D.C. to Connecticut, to California to Georgia, to New Jersey. Rarely in the service business will you find someone whose experience covers such a broad range of responsibilities and geography. She has seen business from every side - as an owner, as a franchisee, as a franchisor, and from the corporate seat.

Carol is the author of Ten Traits for Top Performers, a book written exclusively for the 125,000 sales associates and brokers in the Realogy system. Her research and wisdom is used every day to help broker-owners, managers, and sales associates improve on their skills to stand out from the competition.

Use Social Media to Serve and Support Our Military

I could not think of a better time than Memorial Day weekend to discuss the use of social media as it relates to the men and women serving our country in all branches of the military.  This is my small way of honoring those who are serving now as well as those who have served our country in the past.

It should be no surprise to you that social media platforms and other digital tools have become essential to families that are separated by deployment.  I did a little research and found that the every military branch as well as the Dept. of Defense has gone out of their way to publish guidelines on the proper use of digital channels and encourage families to take advantage of every platform available.

Today we will talking about how civilians can engage in the conversation and show support by bringing much needed news, awareness and humor to the lives of those who are defending our freedom every day and often feel isolated from the world.

I also want to share a list of Safety Tips for Using Social Networking Sites that were published by http://www.militaryonesource.mil.  What you will discover that these tips are applicable to all of us whether using social media for personal or business purposes.

1.              Never post confidential personal information such as your date of birth, address, social security number, or bank and credit card account numbers. Never provide this type of information when signing up for a social networking site.  Most sites do not require this type of information and you should be wary of those that do.

2.              Don’t invite people that you don’t know to be your ‘friend.’ You do not want strangers to know details about you and your family.

3.              Don’t share operational information, such as upcoming ports of call and military exercises. Such information can compromise operational security and the safety of our service members. Contact your Public Affairs Office for details on what information you can and can’t share.  [my additional comment here is that the spirit of this tip applies to your business also]

4.              Be careful of the kinds of pictures and comments that you post. Remember, lots of people will be able to see your posts.  Potential employers, current employers, and military colleagues may see your site.

5.              Be careful about sharing your every move, particularly if you will be away from your home for vacation. Sharing this kind of information may put your house at risk for being burglarized.

6.              Most social networking sites offer users the option to make the site private. This lessens the risk that people with bad intentions will be able to access your information.

7.              Keep in mind that once you post information online, you may be able to delete it from your site, but the information may still exist on other people’s computers.

8.              Be cautious about downloading applications that are offered on social networking sites. These applications can be created by anyone allowing them access to your personal profile.

You will not want to miss this information and inspirational program.  I would love for you to call in with your own experience, tips or suggestions….especially if you have a military connection!  The LinkedIn Lady Show airs at 4 pm EDT on rockstarradionetwork.com.  Send your text messages using Live Chat or call into the show using our toll free number 866-404-6519.  You can also follow show highlights on twitter using the hashtag #lilshow.

Social Rants Can Do Permanent Damage to Your Business

It’s Wednesday and my co-host Ken Herron, Mr. Cool Hunter, is here with me to discuss hot news, hot tips, and social successes and dismal failures.

First up, you will want to know what’s coming for small businesses on Twitter for their new Lead Generation Card feature.  Have you heard about Pinterest Rich Pins yet?  Well you will want to because suddenly the extra steps required by your viewers to find more information has been solved…and it’s free!

Are you marketing yourself on GooglePlus?  If not you are missing a huge and increasingly important site that will help you get found in ways you never imagined.

Plus we will be revisiting and expanding on topics around response time to customer posts, where the young marketing is moving to and why you should care, and tips on updating your business card to be congruent with your social media online presence.

But the HOT topic today is about a small business that had the equivalent of a knockdown drag out with a customer – but on social media for the entire world to witness, weigh in on, and judge.  Not a pretty outcome.  Could your business survive a rant from you?

What Your Texting and App-ing Communicates About You

We all love technology…well, at least most of the time.  But there is no question that we have all become a mobile obsessed world and our habits of communication have changed dramatically in recent years.

Whether it’s walking down the street or through the store the majority of people that I observe have their noses or their ears tuned to their mobile device and not the world around them.  So what are we missing?  Well perhaps that most impacted generation is our children who watch this behavior and have no basis of comparison to know whether it’s good or bad.

What is your toddler or baby learning when sitting behind you in the car and you are texting while driving down the road?  What are they feeling when you are talking on the phone while grocery shopping and not paying attention to their needs?  And what are they learning about communication when at home you are tethered to your device and respond like it’s an electrode channeled to your fingertip?

This and more is what I’ll be discussing today with my guest Blythe Lipman.  Blythe is the host of Baby and Toddler Instructions, author of Help! My Baby Came Without Instructions and her new book Help! My Toddler Came Without Instructions.

Blythe is also a publisher, teacher, caregiver, consultant, keynote, blogger and of course, a baby and toddler expert! She is the owner and CEO of Baby Instructions in Scottsdale, Arizona. Blythe has 25+ years of experience in the field and cared for over 1000 babies. She has helped new and expectant parents gain the confidence they need to enjoy and care for their little miracles.’’

Be sure to tune in at 4 pm EDT today on rockstarradionetwork.com to The LinkedIn Lady Show. Questions can be posted in LiveChat or called into the show on 866-404-6519.  Follow show highlights on twitter using the hashtag #lilshow.

Social Media Personality Types and You!

There is more and more research being done on our behaviors online.  It is no surprise that who you are as a person reflects through in your posts, tweets and updates as well as your uploads and downloads. But what does it mean for business?  Well as it turns out, perhaps quite a bit.  Instruments like DISC and Myers-Briggs have been used for years to identify personality and behavior, but now you can tie those results directly to social media.

E. Elizabeth “Beth” Carter launched Beth Carter Enterprises over two years ago, a thriving business that encompasses executive business and career coaching, seminars, and the DISC behavioral assessment.   She serves as a “thought partner” for executives and middle managers of small and Fortune 500 companies, business owners, and those that want to improve their careers. She has a keen ability to help these individuals reach their goals in such areas as leadership and management development, expanding marketing capabilities, and performance enhancement while motivating them to their full potential.

In addition, she is President of Carter Consultants Ltd., an executive search and research firm she founded in 1991.  Beth holds a MBA in Marketing Management from Baruch College and graduated cum laude from Bryant University.  She is a Certified Professional Coach (CPC), Certified Professional Behavioral Analyst (CPBA), Certified Professional Motivational Analyst (CPMA), and Certified Professional Resume Writer (CPRW), and an Adjunct Professor in the Executive Development Center at Bryant University.

She will be sharing her own insights on what the studies show and how DISC and social media patterns can be used to know more about your clients, customers, friends, followers, and connections.  Who is likely to do business with you?  Who should you hire for your business?  What clues tell you that a person could be a high-risk or a high-potential?

Don’t miss this fascinating and informative interview – all today at 4 pm EDT on rockstarradionetwork.com.  Send us your questions using the Live Chat feature on the top tool bar; call into the show using our toll free number 866-404-6519; or follow show highlights on twitter using my show hashtag #lilshow.
